Volume Controls and Audio Quality

Introduction

LIEDSON Player is designed to maximize audio quality - ideally, bit perfect playback.

By default the oratorio uses its own USB interface and the settings are in:

Audio output tab

  • Audio output tab
  • Output Device
  • (XU2S USB Digital Audio Interface)
But it is possible to bypass the oratorio's internal DAC by connecting an external USB DAC to the oratorio's USB port, in this case you will have to choose from:
  • Output Device
  • (The USB interface of your external DAC ex: xmos USB)
  • Some external DACs have several analog outputs that you can select from:

    • Volume Options
    • Mixer Type (choose Material)
    • Mixer Control Name (choose the audio output corresponding to the audio output of your DAC, ex: Headphone)

    Volume Options

  • Mixer Type
  • Hardware

This mode allows you to be able to choose the Mixer Name (default: Xmos Clock Selector) volume control is managed by the LIEDSON PLAYER application

(BE CAREFUL in some cases the volume will be fixed at 100% and you will not be able to act on it)

  • Software

This mode gives no option on the choice of the Mixer the volume control is managed by the LIEDSON PLAYER application

  • Software = volume control in steps of 5 with the LIEDSON PLAYER interface, in steps of 1 with the DIRETTORE application and the other "BubbleUpnp / Mconnect" applications
  • Hardware = Allows volume control and selection of different sound card outputs (only for external USB DAC)
